Goals of the Unit

  1. Achieving the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia 2030 vision by conducting field and laboratory studies on bees and honey production in the Asir and Tihama region in the southern region and encouraging research and scientific consultations and developing aspects of applied practice.
  2. Register patents in the field of making new devices with modern technology that helps in producing honey of high nutritional value, beekeeping, and preserving and developing the local strain.
  3. Publishing research papers and scientific papers in international and national scientific journals and periodicals, and participating in local and international conferences, seminars and exhibitions specialized in bee science and honey production.
  4. Transforming research results into products and industries of value to the national economy in the field of bee science and honey production.
  5. Establishing a scientific and dissolved laboratory for bee research and honey production at King Khalid University and cooperating with laboratories of the Ministry of Agriculture in this field.
  6. Carrying out scientific studies on the plants used in honey production, bee feeding, re-culture of Sidr, and determining the residual effect of pesticides.
  7. Analysis of bee products, diagnosis of bee diseases and pests, and description of appropriate control methods and their development using nanotechnology.
  8. Working to develop, diagnose, and address problems and obstacles facing beekeepers.
  9. Adoption and participation in preparing laws and regulations governing the bee industry in the Kingdom.
  10. Provide advice to beekeepers and related agencies, in cooperation with the Ministry of Agriculture and cooperative societies.
  11. Training and guiding beekeepers, developing their scientific skills and raising their professional capabilities.
  12. Spreading awareness of the importance of honeybees and the nutritional, therapeutic and economic value of their products through holding conferences, seminars and workshops.
  13. Seek to keep the local bee population from degradation and work to propagate and spread it.
  14. Encouraging cooperation and transferring experiences between the unit and the specialized international centers.
  15. Training for male and female graduate and undergraduate students at King Khalid University in the area of ​​unit interest.
  16. Authoring and translating books, issuing brochures and scientific bulletins, and supporting modern and specialized books in the field of bee science and honey production.
